More reported crimes at stations |
| The number of crimes at overground stations outside London's zone one rose by 2,000 last year, a report has said.
The London Assembly study showed that the number of reported crimes was 12,260 in 2002/03.
The worst affected stations were East Croydon, Clapham Junction and Walthamstow Central.
London Assembly member Roger Evans blamed a lack of joined-up thinking between railway companies and councils as well as a lack of station staff.
He said: "These incidents are a warning that urgent improvements are needed to safeguard passengers. |

On the tourist trail at Horse Guard's Parade | London is the place to visit for its club scene, theatres and improving restaurants but it all comes at a very high price, a new guide claims.
The newly published Lonely Planet guide criticises London for its "horrendously overpriced" underground and some of the world's most expensive hotels.
Visitors are also warned to expect to hear the F-word - without it Londoners are apparently left dumbstruck.
But the guide said everyone can expect to be greeted with tolerance. |

Body scanner unveiled at station |
The scanner can detect items concealed beneath clothes | A high-tech body scanner for detecting would-be terrorists has been unveiled at London's Paddington station ahead of a four-week trial.
Passengers will be randomly selected to pass through the seven-metre box at the Heathrow Express platforms, while baggage is also screened.
There will be further trials at other mainline and Tube stations.
