December 21 British Library to ban ink pens
BBC NEWS | England | London | British Library to ban ink pens
How did the British society fail to teach readers not to leave marks on loan books? December 18 Folder Size for WindowsI recommend it.
I've been using it for several minutes now, after using another Folder Size Shell Extension for some years now. From the very first appearance I can say the new one seems greater in usability.
December 11 Work on your Laptop from your Desktop w/o KVMPeople with Laptops have tackled this problem ever since the 20th century:
How does one work on his Laptop (small Keyboard / Video / Mouse) at the convenience of his Desktop computer (normal Keyboard / Video / Mouse)?
The traditional answer is: a Docking Station, where one connects most peripherals to the port replicator and they are all connected to the Laptop via the easily detachable replicator connection on the Laptop. This solution is pretty expensive.
The less than traditional answer is a KVM switch, where one connects his Keyboard / Video / Mouse to both computers, and switches between them with a turn of a knob or a touch of a button. a KVM of two ports (for two computers) is relatively cheaper than a full port replicator.
Here comes the answer I've never heard of (hence, I came accross it myself :) Microsoft (for instance) Remote Desktop. One only needs to enable Remote Desktop on the Laptop once, and connect the two computers peer-to-peer and the Keyboard / Video / Mouse + (Printers / Hard Drives / Serial Ports - Optional) of the Dekstop computer are at the service of the Laptop.
Note: Enabling a Remote Desktop application of any sort on a computer w/o taking appropriate security measures is stricly inadvisable. One should contact a network security specialist advisor if one wishes to enable Remote Desktop on a computer that may be connected to the internet and still be on the safer side of the net. The first two answers are completely scured from the internet side of view if one doesn't mind their price. |
